Take any fandom and write down all the main characters you can think of and justify who they would vote for in the US election (or the election of their home country if you chose some group not in the USA)

Example by myself and rachel_wilder under the cut )

Your result for The How Well-Read Are You? Test...

Quite Bookish

Your level of Well-Readliness is 74 %!

Marvelous! You are quite bookish, my friend! I would probably have no problem at all starting and maintaining good conversation with you! My guess is that you like to read and you paid attention during English class. You understand that being solidly educated when it comes to literature is imperative to being a well-rounded individual. Right on. We need more people of your level out there.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] kadymae, may your year be filled with as much awesomeness as you are!
[livejournal.com profile] maryilee did you write FNL/Early Edition crossover?

(or does anyone know if she did?)
A master's student at Georgetown is working on fan fiction for her thesis. There's a survey and she needs as many people from as many fandoms as possible to complete it so that the diversity of fan culture is represented.

If you have a minute, please check it out and send the link to your friends. The survey can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=1idSovixsYIF7EpKO2EGpQ_3d_3d .

I've agreed to help spread the word, but if you have any questions/concerns, you can email her at kem82 @ georgetown.edu.

Six Very Vivid Childhood Memories...

In an effort to get to know your friendlist a little better (or in ways you never imagined before), behind a cut, post 6 childhood memories that stand out in your mind.

will not make a joke about my age... )
This time with double the co-herancy!

To do this week:

PROVE WRONG ViRGINIA HEFFERNAN OF THE NYTIMES:

no independent “Friday Night Lights” wiki has formed on the Web to rival the “Heroes Wiki,” “Lostpedia” and the polyglot “Battlestar Wiki.” Nor has “Friday Night Lights” inspired any significant body of fan fiction (viewer-written stories that take off on the canon), though at the outset a few viewers eagerly awaited an outpouring of “slash” fan fiction (chronicles of hypothetical romances between male characters) from a football show.

Who's with me?

So my Google Alerts just popped up with this article on FNL -

Art in the Age of Franchising

It shuts fans out. Even though NBC .com offers plenty of streaming video — whole episodes, as well as tightly produced hagiographies of the show’s actors — no independent “Friday Night Lights” wiki has formed on the Web to rival the “Heroes Wiki,” “Lostpedia” and the polyglot “Battlestar Wiki.” Nor has “Friday Night Lights” inspired any significant body of fan fiction (viewer-written stories that take off on the canon), though at the outset a few viewers eagerly awaited an outpouring of “slash” fan fiction (chronicles of hypothetical romances between male characters) from a football show.

Please please cross post this and participate. When people say things like this it only hurts the fandom more because people assume we don't exist. Well we do.

Gack'd from [livejournal.com profile] rachel_wilder

Name a fandom I'm into and I will tell you:

1. The first character I fell in love with:
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
4. The character I love that everyone else hates:
5. The character I would shag anytime:

the rest of the questions here... )
Dear Self,

It's a...special day (night, morning?) when you actively go looking on MediaBlvd to remind yourself who started the Jason/Tim thread/controversy etc.

It's even more special when you realize that it's nearly a year old and OMG you've stayed active in a fandom for a year.

If you're still thinking about this in 30 seconds self, I'm knocking you out and making you sleep.

-Malkin

ps. for the record, it was [livejournal.com profile] riggins_girl. Of course. And [livejournal.com profile] asinnerofsorts, [livejournal.com profile] rachel_wilder and [livejournal.com profile] rancasley were also there. Proving that we're so cool we knew before Tim said "I love you."

Dear Everyone:

I'd like to announce how I am BY a few YEARS no longer the youngest person in the fandom.

Awesome.

That is all,
