Question: What's the word on Friday Night Lights? --Tony

Ausiello: The two season, 26-episode pickup will be announced any day now. Unfortunately, it looks like Tyra will only be appearing in a handful of those 26, as (future CSI: Miami guest star) Adrienne Palicki is not expected back full time. Ditto Minka Kelly, who was recently cast in the CW pilot Body Politic opposite Veronica Mars' Jason Dohring. Both will likely be given multi-episode arc send-offs a la Gaius Charles' Smash and Scott Porter's Jason.

Kyle Chandler Spoils for Potential Season 4 )
Sources confirm to me exclusively that NBC is engaged in active talks with DirecTV to extend their unique shared-window experiment with Friday Night Lights. But there's a catch -- and it's a good one. According to an insider close to the negotiations, DTV and NBC might only seal the deal if they can get – holy Connie Britton Taylor! -- a two-season pickup.

There's more, but this is all the Ausiello I care about today.

ETA: And because they always have to one up each other --- (Watch with) Kristin) tracked down Kyle Chandler for a quote.

Good news for "Friday Night Lights" fans: Ben Silverman says DirecTV wants to re-up for another season. He doesn't sound opposed. 2:35 PM yesterday from web

From Brian Stelter's Twitter

Hey Dude. I take what I get. DirectTv seemed to love it more than Silverman and co.

4.6 Million, 4th in the time slot but 300,000 away from tying with Supernanny in 2nd.

Best ratings for NBC in that timeslot (normally held by Lipstick Jungle) in both the demo and general, for the last few weeks/months.

Not awesome, but nothing to frown at either.*

*that being said, we were creamed by Flashpoint which makes me a very conflicted girl as Flashpoint is a Canadian Co-Production and means big things for my home industry.

Taylor Kitsch post on ONTD.

Excellent timing for remaining hot Taylor.

I propose we change TGIF to TGITK now.

p.s. Completely random but Sheldon Cooper and Barney Stinson teamed up last night and kicked Jack Bauer's ass.
Fun Facts:

Peter Berg - Unoriginal with character names. Or is foreshadowing that Lyla Garrity is going to be a doctor.

DirecTV wants to have Peter Berg's babies, no---literally:

Like Friday Night Lights before it, DirecTV is bringing back Wonderland, another broadcast network series critically acclaimed but viewer challenged (and also executive produced by Peter Berg).

The satellite TV operator will show all eight episodes of Wonderland on its special channel, The 101 Network, and on DirecTV on Demand, beginning Jan. 14 at 10 p.m. Only two episodes ran on ABC in the spring of 2000 before the network pulled the plug. DirecTV says it will air in HD and without commercials.

The gritty series concerned the the doctors and patients at a fictional New York psychiatric hospital called Rivervue. The dark and violent series was reviled by many psychiatrists for showing an extreme example of mentally ill patients. (The first episode featured a madman who shot several people in Times Square and then tried to kill himself.)

Critics generally gave it high praise. The first episode attracted 13 million viewers, but a week later, the audience for Wonderland was only 7.5 million and ABC stopped airing it.

All the episodes will run Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET and begins following the Season Three finale of Friday Night Lights, the series that is uniquely "sharing" itself with NBC where it originally aired. Friday Night Lights makes its season debut on NBC two nights later, on Jan. 16.

source: this can only mean good things for S4. I'm telling you

[ profile] rachel_wilder's send off to Jason. Sweet as hell.

Okay, I made no bones about not LOVING Smash's character all the way throughout. He had his moments, he ushered in great storylines but I never loved him. Loved his mama, but never him.

p.s. I totally know what they're doing with Jason's character. Obvious preview is obvious.

First of all, FNLWIKI banner. Second. JASON AND SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, "Friday Night Lights" will do a live phone-in chat with the stars each week when it premieres on DirecTV in the fall. By the way, "FNL" will have 2 versions going for it next season. One will be ready for broadcast while the other will have a looser format -- perhaps running longer than an hour -- when it is on DirecTV.

Hell. Yes. x2

I need to look into getting DirectTV in Toronto. Don't tell me it's not possible because I will cry like a baby. Today is not the day to be telling me bad things.
If one gets into a bidding war over FNL material (in the last minute of the ebay auction) and loses, should the person be happy the show is popular or should the person be furious at losing to someone who is probably an Ebay junkie who will resell?

(the item in question was a crew jacket identical to the one in the icon to go with my BtvS jacket)
Went to the Silver Snail today for the Boy since his closest big town is apparently in the 80s comicwise. It's becoming a roughly bi-weekly thing (more weekly than bi, but not quite fully weekly) and everytime I think I get the same guy having to hunt down the semi-obscure comics for me while I temporarily propogate the "ditzy uncomic booky girlfriend" stereotype.

Half of me is highly amused that all I have to do for 50% of the trip is stand around looking mildly confused and the other half is cursing myself for just not being able to do it myself. Firstly, I've been going to the Snail for at least 7 years. And was a very casual visitor there since I was about 12. Secondly, it's not like I'm looking for back issues. I just apparently cannot find anything with "X-MEN" in the title.

ION, I've discovered that there is a list of 18 big items left to do before camp starts in a month. This is on top of my summer course, work and social engagements. And 3 other people's work/school/social engagements. It will take God himself to get VBC in shape for the week of June 24th, but it will look damn pretty when we finish. Enough so to make a nice portfolio/scrap book of camp nonsense.

Also---and on an entirely random note (except for [ profile] shelbecat and [ profile] riggins_girl who know what I'm doing) does anyone know where the Rehab centre was located in S1 of FNL (obv. from FNL. I mean this is MY journal). This says it's in Midland, but this is Wikipedia.
